About Our Podcast

Fun with Bells is a monthly podcast to explore the world of change ringing on tower, hand and other bells!

It has fascinating historical facts about bells, stories from the ringing community that will go down in history, personal experiences, wacky enthusiasms, experiences of learning to ring, tips, quizzes and much, much more.

Since 2019, the show has been downloaded over 35,000 times. According to Listen Notes, this podcast is one of the top 5% most popular shows out of 3,302,111 podcasts globally, ranked by Listen Score (the estimated popularity score)

Whilst the podcast is intended for those new to the bell ringing community, we have found that experienced ringers listen as well – we have been recommended by bloggers such as the Accidental Ringer, the President of the Central Council of Church Bell ringers and have had articles in the Ringing World.

85% of our downloads are from the UK, 10% the US and the rest from 89 other countries.

Mission Statement

The objective of the podcast is to attract and retain ringers by providing them with a sense of the wider ringing community that they are part of.

Who created this?

Cathy Booth hosts and produces the podcast with sponsorship for ongoing costs from the Association of Ringing Teachers.  She is also supported by a small team including Anne Tansley-Thomas, Emily Roderick, Emily Watts and John Gwynne.  Whilst the rest of the team are change ringers, Cathy has never rung bells but is the wife of Roger Booth, who learnt to ring bells when he was 10.
